About APIP
A course built around a gap in training: pediatric interventional pulmonology is learned by doing, and there were almost no places to do it.
APIP exists because the techniques that open a child's airway cannot be learned from a textbook, a video, or an adult bronchoscopy list.
Pediatric interventional pulmonology is a small field. The equipment is different, the margins are smaller, and the number of centres performing the full range of interventions is limited — which means that a fellow can finish training having read about cryotherapy, stenting or rigid foreign body removal without ever having held the instruments.
The course was founded in 2024 to close that gap directly: put the equipment in people's hands, keep the groups small enough that everyone gets time at the station, and bring together faculty who perform these procedures in children rather than adapting adult practice to them.
It has grown each year since, and 2027 marks the largest step so far — a fourth edition extended to four days, opening with a Postgraduate Course Day dedicated entirely to practical training.

- 2026 3rd edition Tübingen, Germany Third edition, and the first held in Tübingen.
- 2027 4th edition Tübingen, Germany Four days, opening with the first Postgraduate Course Day.
Who runs the course
APIP is directed by PD Dr. Dirk Schramm, who has led every edition since the first. The scientific programme is developed with the international faculty.
Course organisation, registration and invoicing are handled by b4c & solutions GmbH.
